Senior software engineering consultancy

Senior engineers for systems your business depends on.

We work with product teams and domain-led businesses to build data platforms, operational software, and complex backend systems — with the experience to carry the work into production.

ScanBar

Restaurant operations connected from order entry to preparation, payment and reporting.

A cloud-based point-of-sale and operations platform for restaurants, bars and cafés. Staff take orders by table, guests can order from a QR code, orders reach the right preparation station, and fiscal receipts, payments, invoices, stock and reports all live in one system.

  • Product and Backend Engineering
  • Integrations and Operational Automation
  • Production Platforms and Reliability
What it does
Built to move restaurants from legacy, disconnected setups to one cloud-based view of the whole service: tables, kitchen, fiscal printing, payments, stock and reports.
Selected work

Different domains. Substantial engineering.

Research data, property intelligence, and maintenance operations: selected work where understanding the problem was as important as building the software.

LandGrader

Property data turned into decision support for Stamp Duty cases.

A property-analysis platform that matches HM Land Registry transactions with Energy Performance Certificates, scores every matched property from its energy-efficiency features, and ranks the results so analysts can find and assess Stamp Duty cases.

Delivered capability
A ranked, filterable view of matched property transactions with adjustable scoring, supporting case analysis in the client’s Stamp Duty litigation process.

Bio

Genetic research software, from sequencing data to mutation analysis.

A multi-organisation platform where genomic sample files are uploaded and checked against known mutation sequences for configured genes. A dedicated matching service scans each gene region of a sample and produces a report of which genes, and which associated conditions, show a match.

Delivered capability
A research platform that turns uploaded variant files into gene-by-gene mutation reports, with a parallel matching engine behind it.

Property management operations

From AppFolio data to coordinated maintenance operations.

A new backend for a residential property manager, built from scratch alongside its existing platform. It keeps a clean, reliable copy of the company’s AppFolio data in step through webhooks, and runs maintenance intake on top of it: urgency triage, technician matching and dispatch.

Delivered capability
A dependable mirror of the AppFolio data and an intake flow that turns a maintenance request into a dispatched job.

Capabilities

The engineering behind the system.

We connect product requirements with the backend, data, integrations, and infrastructure needed to make the system work.

How we work across these capabilities

Working approach

Understand the constraints. Make the decisions. Build and verify.

Each stage produces something you can use: written constraints, explicit architecture decisions, working increments, and the documentation needed to deploy and run the system.

  1. 01

    Understand

    The constraints, written down

What the system has to do, what is already in place, which rules are fixed, and where the difficult decisions are.

  2. 02

    Define

    Architecture decisions, made explicit

The boundaries, the data, and the trade-offs, recorded so that they can be questioned now rather than discovered later.

  3. 03

    Build

    Working increments

Software delivered in usable steps, with the tests and the integrations that make each step real.

  4. 04

    Operate

    Deployment and operational documentation

The system deployed, observable, and documented well enough for the people who will run and maintain it.

Built in-house

We also build software of our own.

Our internal products give concrete examples of how we approach complete workflows, connected interfaces, and reusable business software.

Team

A focused team. Experience beyond the company’s age.

N-Thesis is a young company. The engineers in it are not: several have around a decade of professional experience, gained on backend systems, infrastructure, and software for complex domains before they joined.

That is the experience we bring to the work. The company is deliberately small, so the people you talk to are the people who build the system.

  • Backend and product engineering Services in Java, Kotlin and Go, built with Spring Boot, with Angular front ends and PostgreSQL databases. Integrations between systems, and distributed systems that have to stay consistent.
  • Systems and blockchain Systems programming in C++ and Rust, and experience building blockchain systems.
  • Infrastructure and operations Practical experience running production Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD, deployments, monitoring and observability.
  • Algorithms and complete products Algorithmic work and data processing, and building whole products rather than components.

About the team

What is difficult about the system you are building?

Tell us what the software needs to do, what is already in place, and where the difficult decisions are. You do not need a complete specification to start the conversation.
